Coatings
Coatings provide optics with additional functionality over the
substrate material. Coatings have a wide range of uses, from mirros
and filters through to protectors from environmental effects.
Pioneering work in the development of Ion Assisted Deposition
(IAD) was carried out at the ACPO. We are also utilising the fully
automated Dual Ion Beam Sputtering (DIBS) system in order to carry
out precision coatings.
Our research and development capabilities include:
- Optical coating design.
- IAD of complex multilayer coatings in the UV, visible, and
NIR.
- Single wavelength and multiwavelength photometric monitoring.
- Ellipsometric monitoring.
- Techniques to deposit uniform or controlled non-uniform coatings.
- Deposition of multilayer dielectric films up to several hundred
layers thick using the DIBS system.
